Finding the Right Furniture and Bedding for Your Nursery

Have you started on your nursery yet? If not then you are not alone. With so much to do at the start of your pregnancy not to mention getting through those first few months of feeling under the weather, it can be hard to plan your nursery until the very end. But rather than make choosing your baby bedding and decorating a stressful time why not sit back and enjoy it! It will most likely be the last time you will have the luxury to do something in this manner. Here are some tips on getting your nursery set up from crib bedding to dressers.

Choosing Your Furniture

When you first step into a baby store you will most likely feel a bit overwhelmed. There will be so many different types to choose from as well as different sizes. You will find furniture that is made out of wood, steel, plastic, and many other materials. And you will find tons of different themes to choose from as well. Just remember that if you do have the time, you do not have to purchase everything right at that store.

Cribs

You will most likely find that there are a few different types of baby beds out there as well as many different styles of nursery bedding. For instance, you may want to simply start out with a cradle of sorts. Also known as basinets, you will find that they take a different type of bedding than a normal crib. Then you have your normal crib. These can wait a bit before you purchase them as a cradle will be perfect for the first month or two. However, when the time does come to purchase your crib do so wisely.

The best way to go if you can is to choose a crib that also can be converted to a toddler’s bed. This saves a lot of time and money in the end, and they both take the same type of babybedding. If you go with this type of crib you will be set for a bed for quite a few years to come.

The other popular type of bed is the co-bed. These are beds that can easily fit under a standard double or full sized bed. This type of bed is perfect for those people that believe the only place for a baby is in the parent’s bedroom.

Dresser/changing tables

While a baby does not have big clothing it is important to have a place that is easy to store and easy to reach. You will find that many cribs will come with a matching dresser or table set so this may be easier than you first thought. Just remember that the best tip is to double your baby dresser as a changing table. All the clothes and diapers are then easily accessible and again you will save time, money, and space. Just remember to ensure the dresser is very sturdy as some designs out there would not be strong enough to hold all the clothes and the baby.

Baby Bedding

This is where you can really have a lot of fun. What makes sheets and blankets so great is that you can change the theme and feel of the room each and every day if you want. But besides these two types of bedding you will also need things like a bumper and thicker comforters. Just remember to throw in a few bright primary colors so that you can help stimulate your child’s development.
